Overview

Session 1 : Paper presentation : Advocating building and integration delivery of mental health care in rural and remote Australia by GPs and RGs with mental health advanced skills. (20 mins) Session 2 : Workshop. The RDAA Female Doctors Group workshop will provide a different insight into achieving a balance with a rural doctor's professional and personal life. Following the workshop, and leading into the scheduled lunch break, there will be a networking opportunity with "Ladies Do Lunch". (90 mins)

Biography

Dr Miriam Grotowski is the Chair of the Rural Doctors Associationn of Australia (RDAA) Female Doctors Group. Female Doctors Group is an active group of rural doctors working together to support colleagues and assist the RDAA in priority setting and policy development.

Biography

Dr Alexandra Seidel is a current board member of RDAA and immediate past president of RDAT. She is a rural GP and practice principal at the Huon Valley Health Centre in southern Tasmania.

Biography

Currently undertaking her first year of GP Registrar training in Cooktown, Ebonney hails from Kingaroy and studied medicine at James Cook University in Townsville. Over the previous 12 months she has worked towards completing her advanced skill training in mental health in Townsville under Dr Jason Lee. She has a keen interest in advocacy and service delivery and sees an active role in promoting rural and remote health as a key part of her job.

Biography

Professor Paul Worley is a rural doctor. His work in the science of rural community based medical education, and its impact on addressing the maldistribution of doctors for rural and underserved areas, has changed the face of medical education and rural medical workforce policy nationally and internationally. His leadership of junior doctor training in general practice has transformed the transition from medical school to post-graduate training for general practice. Paul is a past President of the Rural Doctors Association of SA, a previous national Vice President of ACRRM, and a Council Member of the AMA (SA). Paul Worley is the Editor in Chief for the journal, Rural and Remote Health. He is an active rural doctor and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences.
