Overview
This session aims to assist practitioners in creating a safe consultation environment for their LGBTIQ patients by providing an approach to gender and sexuality; information about transitioning and what this involves; practical tips to meeting the sexual health needs of patients; and providing practitioners with important referring pathways and services available.
Dr Nanette Preswell from The Centre Clinic, Victorian AIDS Concil will support the session in the area of referring, and sexual health components. (90 mins)

Biography
Dr Asiel Adan Sanchez is a non-binary doctor, writer and performer. Born and raised in Mexico, their work explores the intricacies of race, sex, gender, sexuality, mental health and medical systems. Their writing has appeared in Archer Magazine, Voiceworks Magazine, The Age and Crickey, while their academic work has appeared at the International Congress of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, The Congress of the Royal and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, Health In Difference LGBTI Conference and the congress for the Australian and New Zealand Professional Association for Transgender Health. As a medical student, they co-founded MDQ Health Collective, an organisation for medical students advocating for equity in healthcare. They’re currently producing the first educational resource addressing the healthcare needs of the LGBTIQ community for medical students and junior doctors.

Biography
Shirley Jayasekara is a final year medical student in albury Wodonga and a member of the local LGBTIQ community. They organised the regional LGBTIQ health forum for multidisciplinary health workers in Albury Wodonga and is passionate about community consultation in primary healthcare.

Biography
Dr Louise Manning is currently an Intern in Regional Victoria. She has a keen interest in sexual health and has recently undertaken a HIV s100 prescriber course to further her skills and knowledge in this area. Louise is a Rural Ambassador for Rural Workforce Agency Victoria and is involved with the ACRRM Future Generalists Committee as Events Liaison Officer.

Biography
Ruth is an Honorary Associate Professor at the Department of General Practice, University of Melbourne and a general practitioner at an inner-urban general practice. She has clinical and research interests in lesbian and bisexual women’s mental health, sexual health, same-sex parenting, and LGBT health care and homelessness. She is a member of the Victorian government LGBTI Taskforce (2015-2018). She was inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women in 2017 for her academic, clinical and advocacy work.
