Biography
Associate Professor David Caldicott is an Irish Emergency Consultant at the Emergency Department of the Calvary Hospital in Canberra, and a Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at the Australian National University. He has been a lifelong advocate for a harm minimization approach to drug use, evidence-based drugs policy, and public engagement with the scientific process.
He has published widely in the peer-reviewed literature, and presents nationally and internationally on the subject of the use of the emergency department as an observatory for the harms associated with alcohol and drugs, the surveillance of novel psychotropic substances as they evolve, and the determination of their effects in acute overdose. He is the recipient of an NH&MRC Partnership Grant examining the impact of alcohol on Australian EDs.
He has provided bipartisan advice on medicinal cannabis to both state and territory and federal governments, and is the clinical lead for the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Observatory at the Australian National University. He is the author of the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Course, designed for clinicians, by clinicians, to facilitate therapeutic decision-making by Australian doctors, within the Australian clinical and legislative context. He has completed the Society of Cannabis Clinicians training course, as well as the New York State Department of Health Medical Marijuana Training Program, and is a member of the ACT Medical Advisory Committee on Medicinal Cannabis.

Biography
Dr James Finn, Finn Medical, is an Addiction Medicine Specialist. His clinical interests include patient safety, clinical governance, corporate governance, medical education, rural medicine, and Aboriginal health. His sub interests within addiction medicine include detoxification and maintenance for therapeutic and non-therapuetic opioid dependence, alcohol dependence, benzodiazepine dependence, amphetamine dependence and cannabis dependence.
He is a fellow of the RACGP, ACRRM and the RACP(ChAM) and is extensively involved in medical education and training. He is a past Chair of the Board of General Practice Training Queensland, a foundation director of Health Leaders Australia, a former member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the Clinician’s Performance Support Service of Queensland Health. Jim is the state secretary of ASMOFQ and is a former Federal Secretary of ASMOF. He is the Vice President of AMAQ.
Dr Finn was President of the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland from 2008 -2009 and Vice President of the Rural Doctors Association of Australia in 2009 to 2010.

Biography
Prof Iain McGregor is the Academic Director of the Lambert Initiative and an NHMRC Principal Research Fellow. He is responsible for academic and organisational leadership, strategic direction, governance and reporting, and the development and achievement of the preclinical and clinical research strategies overseeing a team of more than 25 staff and students, and for leading external relations, advocacy and education.
Prof McGregor is renowned in the field of medicinal cannabis research and has published more than 50 papers on cannabinoids, his first one more than 20 years ago.

Biography
Geoff Munro is the National Policy Manager at the Alcohol and Drug Foundation (ADF).
Geoff has worked in the alcohol and other drug field for over 25 years having roles in training, education, research, advocacy and community development for government and non-government services.
His role includes leading the development of the ADF's views on alcohol and other drug issues and disseminating them to audiences including policymakers, politicians and the public; developing education materials and resources and extensive collaboration with other non-government organisations.
Geoff has also led numerous projects in community and education settings and is widely published on drug prevention policy and practice.
Gayle Peres da Costa

Biography
Gayle Peres da Costa graduated from UNSW in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws. She began her career in private practice in personal injury insurance litigation, on behalf of defendants. Prior to joining MDA National, Gayle conducted a practice for 7 years on behalf of public hospitals, their employees and Visiting Medical Officers, defending litigated and unlitigated claims and representing interested parties in Coronial proceedings. She was a Senior Associate at Curwoods Lawyers and a Senior Solicitor at the Crown Solicitor’s office.
Gayle joined MDA National in 2016. Since then she has provided assistance and advice to medical practitioners with respect to medico-legal risk management, complaints, claims, performance and disciplinary issues and Coronial investigations and inquests.

Dr Alexandra Seidel is a current board member of RDAA and immediate past president of RDAT. She is a rural GP and practice principal at the Huon Valley Health Centre in southern Tasmania.

Biography
Adjunct Prof John Skerritt is Deputy Secretary for Health Products Regulation in the Commonwealth Department of Health. As a Deputy Secretary, he contributes to the stewardship of Australia’s health system, as well as having direct responsibility, which covers both the Therapeutic Goods Administration and the Office of Drug Control. The Office of Drug Control regulates and provides advice on the import, export and manufacture of controlled drugs, as well as the cultivation of cannabis for medicinal purposes to support Australia's obligations under the Narcotic Drugs Conventions. The TGA oversees medicines to ensure an appropriate level of quality, safety and efficacy following entry into the Australian marketplace. The TGA also evaluates and authorises certain clinical trials and special access arrangements for all types of therapeutic products, including most medicinal cannabis products which are currently unregistered medicines.
John Skerritt is formerly a Victorian Government Deputy Secretary and has extensive experience in medical, agricultural and environmental policy, regulation, research management, technology application and commercialisation. Dr Skerritt is an Adjunct Full Professor at two Universities and is currently Vice-Chair of the International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Authorities and the Scientific Advisory Council of the Centre for Innovation in Regulatory Science.
