Introduction to Ear Wax Management using Microsuction Workshop

8:30 AM - 10:00 AM

Abstract Overview

This workshop is a hands-on and practical workshop designed to build upon clinical knowledge by introducing ear microsuction under direct vision as a simple, safe and effective way to remove excess and problematic ear wax. Ear wax removal has historically been performed using a "wet" method such as irrigation, however today the preferred method used and recommended by ENT Specialists is manual removal using microsuction and curettage techniques under direct vision.
The topics covered will include patient assessment and consent, various examples of problematic wax build up, the correct use of speculums and curettage instruments, introduction to microsuction, including equipment set up and maintenance, presentations for caution and introduction to converged binocular optics for depth perception.
