Biography
Our Research Committee supports and guides the research interests of the College and its membership. The Research Committee contains a diverse group of 12 researchers, each with considerable experience in rural and remote general practice.
The ACRRM Research Committee members work collaboratively to foster innovative research that will expand the evidence-based knowledge of contemporary rural medicine. The Research Committee is responsible for assessing requests made to the College to invite our members to participate in research.

Dr Shireen Kumar is an ACRRM registrar currently undertaking an advance skill training year in Academic Practice in Roma South West QLD. She has a passion for wilderness and expedition medicine.

Biography
Professor Ewen McPhee is a rural generalist (obstetrics) and general practitioner in the Emerald community. He has an appointment with the JCU CQ University Department of Rural Health. He is passionate about rural communities and interested in safety and quality care. A past President of both ACRRM and RDAA, he is well aware of the challenges and opportunities that rural and remote health care create for research. Prof McPhee is a member of the ACRRM Research Community and sits on the Clinical and Technical Committee of the Australian Digital Health Agency.

Biography
Dr Andrew Scott is a Rural Generalist with advanced skills training in both Surgery and Obstetrics. He currently serves as the Clinical Director of Capricorn Coast Hospital and Health Service in Queensland, Australia. In addition to his primary role, Dr Scott maintains an active procedural practice, providing services in obstetrics and endoscopy across Rockhampton, Gladstone, and Emerald hospitals. His commitment to improving healthcare access in rural communities has driven his involvement in innovative service delivery models, including the successful implementation of Endoscopist-Directed Nurse-Administered Propofol Sedation in Central Queensland.
