National Lung Cancer Screening Program Health Workforce Education
4:30 PM - 5:00 PMAbstract Overview
From July 2025, eligible people in Australia will be able to participate in low-dose CT screening for signs of lung cancer through the National Lung Cancer Screening Program (the program). The program aims to achieve better health outcomes for Australians by detecting lung cancer early and reducing deaths from lung cancer. Early detection can lead to more effective treatment options and improved outcomes for participants.
The Australian Department of Health and Aged Care is leading the implementation of the program in partnership with the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation and Cancer Australia. Implementation partners are working closely with experts, such as Lung Foundation Australia, The Daffodil Centre, Cancer Council Victoria and The University of Melbourne (the consortium) to deliver program materials to support participants and health care professionals. The consortium developed and promoted information materials (fact sheets, brochures, program Guidelines and a video), and education resources (modules, webinar and conversation guides). This abstract will focus on the development of education resources by Lung Foundation Australia.
