Packed with Purpose: Sandpiper Stories from the Field

2:10 PM - 3:15 PM

Abstract Overview

In the vast expanse of rural Australia, timely pre-hospital care is often a long shot. Enter the Sandpiper Bag—a packed solution for life-saving care where every second counts. This session dives into real-world case studies of rural doctors using Sandpiper Bags to provide critical care in the most remote corners of the country. From outback resuscitations to farm-side stabilisations, these stories show how portable healthcare is making a big impact in small places.

Come for the field-tested wisdom, stay for the inspiration. Learn how you can be part of a growing national network of rural responders, working to ensure that no Australian is left in the lurch. Whether you’re a rural clinician or someone keen to get on board, this presentation will show how you can help take rural healthcare to new heights.

Biography

Dr X is a Rural Generalist Anaesthetist and a Board Member of Sandpiper Australia, where she’s all about getting life-saving care to every corner of the country—no matter how remote. She is the Victorian Representative on the ACRRM College Council which she also chairs (because clearly, she doesn’t do ‘downtime’). When she does find a spare moment—usually sometime between 2 and 5am—you’ll find her with a book in one hand, a glass of whisky in the other, and dreaming of her next snowboarding trip.
