Supporting Early-Career Rural Generalist Journeys
1:10 PM - 2:15 PMAbstract Overview
This panel discussion supports early engagement with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) by addressing the realities of beginning a Rural Generalist training journey. In alignment with ACRRM’s values of collegiality, respect, and service, the panel brings together current trainees, newly Fellowed Rural Generalists, and a Respectful Workplaces Committee representative to provide a safe and supportive space for open conversation. Attendees will gain practical insights into what to expect in their first general practice term, reassurance that early challenges are normal, and guidance on where to seek help. The discussion is designed to build resilience, encourage connection, and inspire confidence in prospective and current trainees navigating the early stages of the ACRRM pathway. The key takeaway: you are not alone—there is a strong and supportive community ready to help you grow as a Rural Generalist.
