Navigating Medicare Compliance in Rural Practice
10:30 AM - 11:00 AMAbstract Overview
Rural and remote general practitioners face unique administrative and compliance challenges within the Medicare system. The Department of Health and Aged Care’s Benefits Integrity Division (BID) recognises these challenges and is committed to supporting rural doctors through transparent engagement and education. Our presentation for RMA25 will provide an overview of Medicare compliance tailored to the realities of rural practice, with insights into the 2025–30 Health Provider Compliance Strategy, priority focus areas, and common billing errors.
BID aims to demystify Medicare compliance, shift perceptions from punitive to supportive, and strengthen mutual trust. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of their obligations, tools to navigate billing with confidence, and an opportunity to contribute to ongoing improvements in compliance education.
