Biography

Dr Marian Dover is a Rural Generalist with advanced skills in Obstetrics. She currently lives and works in the East Kimberley of remote Western Australia, providing services in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, emergency, inpatient and primary care. Marian saw a need for improved research, education, mentorship, and support for RG/Obs and enhancing collaboration between rural and remote Specialist Obstetricians and GP/Obstetricians. Through this passion, Marian established the facebook community of RODU (Rural Obstetrics Down Under) which has provided CPD and education for rural obstetrics. She has since gone on to create the not-for-profit charity of the Australian Rural Maternity Association which encompasses doctors, clinicians, midwives and patients for the support and advocacy of rural maternity units across the country. Marian was the 2024 ACRRM Registrar of the Year and awarded the Bowman Cutter Award from the NSW Rural Doctors Association. She was the Doctors-in-Training Representative for the RDAA from 2017-2024 and served on the Board for the Rural Doctors Foundation in 2024. She continues to be a strong advocate for excellent rural and remote obstetric care that is supported, accessible, culturally appropriate and safe.
