Scope of practice and complications encountered by South Australian Rural Generalist Anaesthetists
11:40 AM - 12:10 PMAbstract Overview
Rural Generalist Anaesthetists play a crucial role in the delivery of surgical services, maternity services and critical care services across rural and remote Australia. Despite this critical role, there is little contemporary published data that describes the practice of rural generalist anaesthesia.
South Australian RGAs were recruited for a study that was designed to help describe key characteristics of their practice such as scope of practice, typical volume of practice, patients profile, and the commonly encountered complications of their anaesthetic practice. Preliminary data from this study will be presented.
