Senator the Hon Anne Ruston is an accomplished Australian politician who has been serving as a Senator for South Australia since September 2012. Born on June 10, 1963, in Renmark, South Australia, she has a strong background in business and horticulture, which has significantly influenced her political career. Before entering politics, Ruston was heavily involved in the horticulture industry. She managed Ruston’s Roses, a family-owned business in South Australia, and played a key role in industry organizations, including the National Wine and Grape Industry Centre. Ruston’s political career began when she was appointed to the Senate in 2012 to fill a casual vacancy. As a member of the Liberal Party, she has held various ministerial roles. From 2015 to 2019, she served as the Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources. In May 2019, she was appointed Minister for Families and Social Services, a position she held until May 2022.
