Surviving a rural surgical term. How to learn and not be burnt
Abstract Overview
This workshop session will be run by two Accredited surgical registrars in the new RACS training programme who are completing their first year of training in a regional training hospital
The workshop will be interactive and audience participation is welcome . It will also be educational in the sense it will provide - current information on new training systems of surgical training
- who and how you apply
- who to approach if your interest is rural surgery
-cost of training- financial and personal
- advice received on the way
- other special interest groups in Surgery
-how to navigate the dinosaurs
- how to ask for time off when it is needed
Many medical students and early career residents present to rural regional placements with enthusiasm, but with a limited understanding of the new training model ,and its impact on other life challenges
Dr Jess and Dr Hiro hope to expose some of the "Myths " and explore the challenges and how they are dealing with them in their early chosen career path
