This workshop provides a practical approach to manage the common presentation of wounds, both acute and chronic with an emphasis on diabetic , arterial and venous wounds.. Participants will learn a systematic approach to assessment, investigation, management and prevention based on recommended guidelines such as the recently released NHMRC Venous Leg Ulcer guidelines. Latest innovations, particularly in the area of diagnostics, compression, infection and wound dressings, will be presented. An emphasis will be made to teach delegates the art of compression therapy.
A review of appropriate use of care planning and case conferencing to assist in wound management and prevention will be conducted along with practice organisational issues for well-planned wound care delivery. * Please Note: (3/3.5 hours contact) Participation in this session by eligible docs can be counted towards a 'combination' of sessions throughout event for claiming against the Emergency Medicine component of the Procedural Grant
