Mental Health Training : FPS CPD or MH upskilling

Details

Mental Health Training in this highly interactive workshop will give rural doctors the opportunity to practice skills in enabling change in their patients. By referring to and examining real cases of patients with depression, anxiety and somatisation, participants will aim to evaluate a series of focussed psychological strategies applicable to implementing change in managing such patients in a busy rural practice setting. Cases where lifestyle factors, poor medication compliance, interpersonal violence, low mood and avoidance are interfering with a patient’s mental health will be referenced, and we will assess the challenges of applying management techniques in practice for such patients. Through a series of small group discussions/learning, we will examine and focus on techniques aimed at supporting these these patients in adopting more healthy behaviours. Presenters : Dr Louise Stone; Dr Michael Eaton
