Details
This 'bush emergency' + some! workshop will start off with
‘station’ rotations as follows:
・ management of the suspected fractured
femur - doing a fascia iliaca block and
using the CT6 traction splint;
・ clearing neck injuries in the pre-hospital
environment (application of NEXUS rules);
・ Is it dislocated? How to assess and
manage shoulder injuries in the bush – a
variety of reduction techniques including
how to do your own;
・ moving injured patient and loading them
into the plane;
・ other splints and things: SAM splints,
T-pods.
- Break for a picnic lunch in the park -
will be followed by :
A introductory discussion around how to prepare your
patient for retrieval; this discussion will be followed by a rotation through the following case studies
practical hints and demonstation sessions as follows :
・ cardiac arrest; ・ primary survey of the injured patient; ・ airway management; ・ log rolls, moving the patient with a suspected spinal injuries.
